Polish Asymmetrical Basket Willow Weaving Workshop

The Polish Asymmetric Border basket is a traditional round basket with the addition of a fairly modern asymmetric border developed by polish basketmaker Stanislav Dzuibak. It’s a fun basket to make and ideal for tools, kindling, flower display and carrying small amounts of shopping etc.

Suitable for all levels, including complete beginners, this workshop gives you the techniques you need to create a willow asymmetrical basket with wooden handle.  You are welcome to bring a piece of driftwood or other wood for the handle, but willow handles will also be available.

Runs from 10.30 – 4.30 (ish) at Pwerdy Powerhouse, Chapel Street, Pont Tyweli, Llandysul, SA44 4AH

What you will learn:

• How to make a stake and strand base using pairing weave
• How to stake up the sides of the basket
• How to weave the sides using a French rand weave
• How to weave the asymmetric border
• How to attach the wooden handle – feel free to bring a favourite piece of driftwood.  We will bring willow sticks if you don’t have any.

Please bring your own lunch. Hot drinks will be available all day.
