Balsam Bashing II

Meeting at the Pwerdy-Powerhouse at 9.30am on Sunday 6th July 2025.
Llandysul and Pont-Tyweli Biodiversity will be meeting at the Powerhouse at 9:30, and moving to the far end of the long meadow at 10, to spend 3 hours or so pulling up as much Balsam as we can find before it flowers. Each plant produces up to 2,500 seeds...
You are more than welcome to join us!

(The marsh area we are clearing is home to ragged robin, water marigld and Yellow Flag Iris, amongst other plants, and the Balsam is threateinging to overgorwo the lot, so we really need to get control of it!)
There is a lot of Water Hemlock in the area, so please, no dogs or young children, and please wear golves and long sleeves / trousers. It is also very marshy in places, so wear waterproof shoes / boots.
If you can bring a large bucket, that will help if we need to carry plants to a central compost pile. Our compost pile last time was nearly 2m high, and 5 or 6 square metres footprint, so there is a lot of carrying!
